About Us
It started with me needing it myself - so I made the first model for myself. With the car ready for winter vacation and all seats occupied, including a dog cage, and no possibility of a ski box on the roof, it was difficult to place cross-country skis and slalom skis inside the car.
The alternatives on the market were either expensive and/or illegal (not type approved) or non-existent.
As an engineer, I think it was fun to be able to develop a product myself. And if I wanted this product, maybe others could imagine it too. Hence, the idea of commercialization.
The product has been developed by Brocks Engineering AS, which has 20 years of experience in the construction of steel structures for the oil & gas industry. Being able to use some of the same engineering knowledge to develop something completely different has been fun.
Everything around the development of the product has been developed in-house with the advantages of keeping costs down and allowing us to offer a more affordable end price to the end-consumer. For example, 3D modeling, drawing production and strength calculations have been done in-house. Activities such as monitoring aluminum production, purchasing components, testing and assembling have also been done by our own personnel. Even logo's, films and this website have been self-made.
We are pleased to see that the range/consumption of cars is not reduced. Test driving in Norway between Fredrikstad and Beitostølen show negligible reduction in range as the increase in wind power is small due to the small projected area.
It has been fun working on the development of this product and we are looking forward to seeing BROXBOX® on the road. But also to seeing old ski boxes being reused for both economic and environmental reasons.
...We think outside of the ski box...
With kind regards,
